Thalassa

The Location

Thalassa Beach Resort is set in the stunningly beautiful conservation area of Bafra, part of the Karpas Peninsula in Northern Cyprus.  This region is acknowledged for its unspoilt beauty with glorious sandy beaches, clean blue Mediterranean waters and a ruggedly spectacular coastline all framed by the Besparmak mountain range.

Bafra is quickly becoming a world famous hideaway, an economic hotspot thanks to tourism at the quality end of the market.  The magnet here is the Kaya Artemis Hotel, which provides five-star accommodation and luxury.  The front of the hotel is a reproduction of the temple at Ephesus, complete with columns and statues, but on a larger scale and the effect is that of a modern hotel dropped into the middle of the Parthenon.  The resort provides a massive 2,500 bed capacity, a casino, shopping centre, swimming pools, spa, conference centre and meeting rooms. There are a selection of other five star hotels, restaurants, casinos and swimming pools in the area.

The Development

Thalassa Beach is the largest and most prestigious beachfront development in Northern Cyprus and the last scheme in the area with permission to build right up to the shoreline. There are a selection of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments, ranging in size from 44 square metres to 165 square metres, some with balconies and some with private pools. The project has been designed by the Kensington Group, an Israeli backed company. Attention to detail is second to none.

Climate

The climate is just one of the many reasons that people chose to visit Northern Cyprus. In the winter it ranges from temperate to sunny with a fair amount of rainfall to keep the island green throughout the spring. The rainfall is mainly restricted to December and January and then in the spring months the island transforms into a carpet of flowers. The summers are long and hot and in July and August it is wise to stay under cover during the intense heat in the middle of the day.  The island enjoys over 300 days of sunshine a year.

Politics & Economy

The political situation is stable and there is a democratically elected prime minister and president and cabinet. The island has direct political and fiscal support from Turkey.

The economy in Northern Cyprus is fairly stable and it is supported by grants and financial aid from Turkey.   The European Union and United Sates are also promising money and the easing of all trade
restrictions against the island. The economy is also directly supported by the growing tourism sector and the property market.  Northern Cyprus is working towards joining the EU along with Turkey.
