Reasons to invest in Turkey in 2011
As we all keep reading in the media at the moment, Turkey continues to gain strength as an excellent overseas option for the investment market and here we examine some of the reasons why.
Firstly, Turkey is prospering and the extensive reforms it has undergone over recent years can only assist its application to become part of the EU, a process which is currently underway. Turkey’s Government has been working hard to make bring political and economic stability to the country to further their case for EU membership and the results are there for all to see. Direct foreign investment is increasing in the country on a large scale and tax incentives offered to long term investors are obviously adding to the appeal, as are the non-resident mortgages that are a result of the reforms in Turkey’s financial sector and hugely beneficial to foreign purchasers.
Turkey has a strong trading base with both Asia and Europe, due it’s geographically strategic position, and its economy is being further boosted by the country’s increasing tourism and real estate industries. The tourism industry is increasing to the point where hotel demand is at an all time high and holiday makers are now looking for self catering options instead, fuelling the business in buy-to-let as people try to take a slice of this lucrative business for themselves and take advantage of both high rental yields and the aforementioned non-resident mortgages which are often available. Property prices are low and more and more investors are realising that while prices are low, the standards are high, and excellent capital growth can be had on property investments in Turkey.
As a relatively new and emerging market, Turkey presents an optimum investment opportunity for good rental yields as well as positive capital growth. Once a market has been established and can no longer be seen as ‘emerging’ the prices of land, property and even construction often rise so better deals can usually be found in newer markets.
