Tivat’s appeal continues to grow
In exciting news for the area, the Montenegrin Government have released an international tender for the long term issue of former farm land near Tivat. The intention is for a golf course to be built on the unused land with a 90 year lease and bids are welcomed until the end of next week.
This is exciting news for an area already boasting great natural beauty and the proposed increase in leisure activities and attractions is being seen as another good boost for the area. The land has been earmarked for tourism development with golf courses specifically encouraged and excitement is swirling around rumours that Peter Munk, driver of the nearby exclusive Porto Montenegro marina project, is interested in taking on the lease.
The Porto Montenegro development has been built on the old remains of a communist era naval base and is contributing significantly to the exclusive image Montenegro is fast developing amongst the rich and famous. Maja Vujaskovic, PR Manager for the development, said that “we are effectively building a whole town from scratch. The idea is that people live here permanently – it’s not meant to be a holiday resort but a living, breathing community”.
The land around Tivat earmarked for the golf course complex is currently owned by the Montepranzo-Bokaprodukt company and the advisor to the project is Raiffesisen Investment. Montenegro is going from strength to strength and one thing is for certain - whoever ends up successfully bidding for the lease will have the opportunity to be involved in the exclusive regeneration of the Tivat area, helping to ensure Montenegro continues to prosper.
